Australia Adrift in the Turbulent Seas of US-China Rivalry

  • University College, University of Melbourne 40 College Crescent Parkville, VIC, 3052 Australia (map)

Join us for the second event in the VOICES Conversation Series for a unique opportunity to explore the current direction of Australia’s foreign and security policy.

The focus will be on our relations with China and our deepening military entanglements with the United States.

“CHINA THREAT” / AUKUS / QUAD / NUCLEAR POWERED SUBMARINES / RISING DEFENCE BUDGET

What does all this mean for Australia and our region?
What are the drivers behind current policies?
Why have Paul Keating and other former Labor leaders become so critical of current policies?
Is a more independent, less militaristic, more internationalist, Asia-centred Australia feasible?
