HIRING: Administrative and Communications Assistant

Conversation at the Crossroads (C@C) is seeking to employ an Administrative and
Communications Assistant on a casual basis for 6 to 8 hours per week, beginning late
January 2024.

The work involved is multifaceted. It includes management of mailing lists and material for
the website, other administrative tasks, responding to inquiries, event promotion, liaising
with the C@C Coordinating Committee and keeping in touch with C@C members and
supporters.

The successful applicant will need to have administrative, IT, writing, and people-to-
people skills. Also essential is prior experience working in a paid or voluntary capacity for a
social change organisation (in such areas as environment, Indigenous rights, civil liberties,
gender equality, media reform, economic and social justice, peace and conflict resolution).
Other highly desirable qualities include: punctuality, attention to detail, courtesy in
dealings with other people, and persistence in learning or finetuning relevant skills.
This position is accountable to the Convener, who will provide ongoing support and
supervision. An initial performance review will take place after the first four weeks of
employment.

Remuneration for the position: $34.25 per hour with the possibility of a higher rate if the
level of skills and experience warrant it. Contributions to super will be equivalent to 11% of
the employee's ordinary time earnings.

Applications will need to include: details of qualifications, relevant experience, something
of the applicant’s perspective on C@C’s vision and objectives, current work and study
commitments, evidence in support of the required skills and desired qualities; and names
and contact details of two referees.
