HIRING: Administrative and Communications Assistant
Administrative and Communications Assistant - Melbourne / Remote
8-12 hours per week - Commencing late March–April 2026
Our committee is predominately based in Melbourne, Victoria. The preference is for the selected candidate to be from Melbourne, so as to be able to meet with the committee from time to time. For the right candidate, we would accept a remote-only applicant.
Conversation at the Crossroads (C@C) is seeking a motivated and values-aligned Administrative and Communications Assistant to join our team, on a casual basis, of 8-12 hours per week.
About the role
The position is multifaceted and includes:
Sending bulk mail-outs and managing mailing lists
Updating website content (through Squarespace), and posting social media content across varied platforms
Promoting events and initiatives, including by creating promotional materials
Providing general administrative support, such as:
Responding to enquiries from members and the public
Liaising with the Coordinating Committee
About you
The successful applicant will have strong administrative, IT, writing, and interpersonal skills, along with experience working (in a paid or voluntary capacity) with a social change organisation. This may include work in areas such as:
Environment and climate action
Indigenous rights
Civil liberties and media reform
Gender equality
Economic and social justice
Peacebuilding and conflict resolution
We are also looking for someone who brings:
Some understanding of the issues confronting Australian society
Reliability and punctuality
Attention to detail
Courtesy and professionalism in working with others
A willingness to learn and refine skills over time
Support and supervision
The position is accountable to the Convener, who will provide ongoing support and supervision. An initial performance review will take place after the first four weeks of employment.
Remuneration
$34.96 per hour, with the possibility of a higher rate depending on skills and experience
12% superannuation on ordinary time earnings
