Conversations that Matter – Public Launch

Join us for the launch of an exciting new project that is establishing small conversation groups across Australia and internationally to bring people together to discuss a way forward in responding to the social, environmental, and political challenges of our time.

Combat the one-sided algorithms, echo chambers, and futile polarisation by becoming part of a growing national and international network of groups that go beyond political spin and misleading headlines, discussing the causes, not just the symptoms of the problems we face.

This project, by Conversation at the Crossroads, aims to build communities of people who are passionate about working towards a more positive future by coming together every few weeks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

For the launch of this project we’ll be meeting in North Fitzroy, Melbourne and online, hearing words and music from our guest speaker Mitch Tambo, a proud Gamilaraay man. The in-person event will commence and end with drinks, snacks, and socialising. Online attendees will join the launch via Zoom from 6:30-8:00 pm (link to be provided near the event date). If you choose, on the evening you will also have the opportunity to sign up to join a Conversations that Matter small group. All are welcome!

In Conversation With: Professor Joseph Camilleri

Professor Joseph Camilleri OAM will outline the vision behind the project, the importance of conversation in these troubled times, and the different ways that people can participate.

Conversations that Matter will be launched by Australian World Music star Mitch Tambo.

A proud Gamilaraay man, Tambo is renowned for his didgeridoo playing and lights up any arena with a passion and deep commitment to his First Nations culture and the people he represents.

Plus, hear from others in Australia and internationally who are forming conversation groups and who will share their experiences of being involved in these groups.
